About me
Hello, I'm Valerie. Before becoming a therapist, I ran my own business in weight management for over 10 years. I worked closely with people, often hearing about much deeper struggles other than food or fitness. That’s when I realised what people needed — not another plan, but someone who would listen without judgment and help them untangle what’s happening underneath. That’s what led me to start my career path in counselling and psychotherapy.
Why counselling?
Because life is hard sometimes. Everyone deserves a space to open up and not feel judged. I do this because I believe therapy can be life-changing — not in dramatic ways, but in small, meaningful ones. Feeling calmer. Sleeping better. Having more patience. Feeling like yourself again.
What is my promise to clients, and what values guide me?
I promise to treat you with kindness, respect, and care, whether you come once or stay for longer. I’ll meet you where you are, at your pace, and never push you to be anything other than yourself. My values are honesty, empathy, growth, and real human connection.
As a fully qualified pre-accredited counsellor and psychotherapist, I uphold the Code of Ethics established by the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP).
I prioritise continuous learning by participating in regular personal supervision, as
well as attending workshops and seminars that enhance both my professional
expertise and personal development.
